Cheryl Anne's Enamel Silver Glitter Frit, Enamel Frit, Glass Frit, for Copper, Gold, Silver, PMC artists. Thompson Enamel, Torch Fire or Kiln Fire. If you love glitter, you are going to love this new frit. It fires clear, only leaving the gold glitter. You can use it with all 1000 series and 2000 series of Thompson Enamels. Look at drop down menu to pick your size. We make and offer Cheryl Anne's Silver Glitter Frit in Large, Medium and Small size. This is a hand made product, created by my wife Cheryl Anne. We hand make and hand shift each color, several times before we even start to make our mixes Its very labor intensive, but we believe you will love the results. ** This mix comes in 2 parts a 2 Small Jar Set Combination Accent Mix = Glitter Part The glitter parts come in Large, Medium and Small Size Sealer: Final Coat= Clear protective coating 80 mesh ** You will receive 1 small jar: Glitter: which we call the accent coat You will receive 1 small jar: Final Coat: which is the protective coating (looks white but fires clear) YOU WILL NEED ANY COLOR OF YOUR CHOICE AS A BASE COAT (NOT INCLUDED) You can use our Glitter Frit on silver, gold, copper, brass, steel and PMC. Our Glitter Frit can be used in a kiln, to make small components or larger art pieces. A little frit goes a long way. You can also torch fire our Glitter Frit. We use our specially designed hand held trivets when making small components. This saves us time and money waiting for the kiln to heat up. SAFETY NOTES: Please work safely. Wear a mask when using this product. While we are not responsible for your safety, we do hope you will use common sense when using enamel products of any type. HOW TO USE CHERYL ANNE"S Silver GLITTER FRIT: Step One: Kiln fire or Torch fire at least 3 coats of any color enamel you like best. Beads: this would mean 3 coats of enamel Flat pieces: 3 coats of enamel on back size of metal and 3 coats of enamel on the front side of your metal. Your looking for nice glossy finish. Step Two: While your bead or flat piece is still orange/red hot.. TIP... When working with beads...we use Joe Spencer’s Copper Liner Tool to flatten out gently the enamel, you don’t want to crush it, just flatten so you can roll very nicely and evenly. This is gone before we start. If using a round bead, you would simply leave glitter frit in a nice pile and roll gently in the center. Beads: roll your bead into your glitter 1 time fire Flat Pieces: sprinkle glitter in the area you wish to see glitter showing kiln fire You do not want to burn the pieces, you simply want to get orange/red hot again Step Three: While your bead or flat piece is still orange/red hot... Beads: roll your bead into your protective coating re-fire (yes it looks white, but it will burn off and become clear) Flat Pieces: sprinkle (lightly) NOT Thick !! Thin even coat on the entire top area of your metal then back into the kiln Your looking for a glossy, shiny look. Let cool naturally. In most cases your piece will fine. IF you have cracking. Anneal your bead or metal piece by keeping even heat on for a few hours. This will help IF you have cracking. You may have put to much glitter or protective coating on at once. ** very important ** resist your temptation to add a second coat of protection coating on your piece. 1st off you don't need it. Secondly, it can cause air bubbles and make your piece look white instead of clear. Your goal here is to protect the glitter part, and have a nice smooth, THIN layer of protective coating. This will really make your bead have some bling bling and showcase your glitter piece very nicely. Well we hope you have fun and enjoy making some really nice artistic pieces. Enjoy. Other info and questions our customers have.... You will receive. (2 parts/in 2 separate small jars) Jars are 1 1/2 inches across and 3/4 inch tall, see through plastic. Our small size frits are used for copper shapes, PMC pieces and small beads made in the kiln or torch fired. Our medium size frits are used for medium size shapes, PMC pieces and medium beads made in the kiln or torch fired. Our large size frits are used for large size shapes, PMC pieces and large beads and outdoor sculpture work made in the kiln or torch fired. The large size is nice to do swirling with. The colors really pop. Why do the 2016 new colors cost more.? Well for over 40 years Joe purchased enamels with Thompson Enamel. He had a lot of stock of his original colors on hand that he could sell, at the prices he purchased from years ago. When we started testing for new color mixtures, unfortunately we had to purchase enamels at the higher prices. We needed enamel to make the mixes and we needed to purchase enamels from Thompson at the new prices. Which as you can imagine, prices from several years ago, were cheaper than they are now. This is just the way it is. We can't control that part of things. Sorry. Will your enamel mixes work with 90 96 or 104 Coe glass? No Why is glass frit for bead makers cheaper than enamel glass frit? Enamel glass frit is made special to work with copper, silver, gold and PMC and metal clays. The cost to produce the enamel is more. Add to that bead making frit for 90-96-104 glass makers is sold already shifted and sized for them. This is not so when dealing with enamel. Thompson enamels come in 6/325 size. We hand shift each color, several times before we even start to make our mixes. A lot of love and labor there. But its so worth it. Remember, the enamel colors spread with heat, so little bit goes a long way. —————————— Joe Spencer’s Bead Making Technique How the blends/mixes are used. Joes Torch Fire Technique. This is a short over all description of how this product is used to make copper enamel beads. If you need lessons please contact us by email Enamels © PackinghouseGallery.org Take your base coat and place 1/2 of the jar contents on your work surface. Take your color mix and place 1/2 of the jar contents on your work surface. Try to be careful not to mix the two piles on your work surface. * we use the line tool that Joe makes to keep the piles neat and separated. Using your mandrel, carefully heat your copper bead and then roll the copper bead into the base coat pile to cover your bead, fire. Repeat this process 2 - 3 times until you have completely covered your bead. The base coat is always used first. Heat the bead again and very carefully roll your bead into the color mix, and fire. Cool your bead in cooling tray. As your beads cool down, you will see color change, this usually takes a couple of minutes. This is normal. * we use Joes Original Bead Pulling Station when creating beads. It just makes life more fun and simple ——————————— Common Sense and good safety practices will go along way.
